Tips for Online Interviews
Helen has been working with EmployFlex for 3 years. She is an expert in the world of flexible work. Her expertise have given her the tools to help people navigate the rise in remote interviews since COVID.
Helen’s 3 top tips for online interview were:
In the correspondence you have coming up to your interview, make sure to take advantage of platforms like LinkedIn to put a face to the name of the person interviewing you. Take note of the companies online presence and any recent news and weave it into your responses during the interview to demonstrate an extra interest.
When on a video interview, make sure the environment is appropriately private and quiet. A solid backdrop always looks best and will encourage the interviewer to focus on you and your answers. You can directly plug into your internet using an ethernet connection to minimise risk of lagging due to a slow connection. Most importantly always, always, always know the speed of your broadband connection. This can be vital knowledge when interviewing for a remote position.
Given the current climate, asking questions surrounding the companies remote working support and culture when you have the opportunity to ask questions to your interviewer will put you in a positive light.
