How To Build Your Vision And Mission

We have summarised 3 of Dana’s top tips from here session on building your Vision along with your Mission. Dana ran through how best to achieve your vision using Smart Cards. We compiled a few pointers to help you out!

Goal setting to Identify your vision

Identifying the kinds of goals you have can be beneficial in dismantling the overwhelming feeling that sometimes comes with goal setting. There are 2 kinds of goals, internal and external. Internal goals are small things which we are constantly striving for. They are guided by our internal values and have no definite finish or end goal. These are goals like, being a team player or being kind. External goals are ones that have a tangible end goal and eventually can come to completion, such as open your own business. Being clear on the kind of goal you have can help you prioritise and in turn, deploy your personal resources more effectively.

The Importance of Visualisation

Another helpful point Dana made to help on the path of achieving goals was to visualise your goals as a mountain. At the summit lies your vision, which is the direction you want to be in. Vision is fluid and can be altered as needed on your journey but for the main part, it stays on the same course. Underneath vision is your goals, which are the milestones leading you toward your vision. Goals are supported by tasks the more to-do aspect of the structure and at the base of the mountain lie your beliefs, strengths, enablers and values. All of these platforms form a mission which guides you to your vision. You bring your personal values and strengths with you on the whole journey. Reminding yourself of this is really important when things start to feel overwhelming or difficult.

Making it as easy as possible

Sharing your struggles, achievements, partnering up with someone that can hold you accountable and knowing when to take breaks and space are all ways which can make goals easier to achieve. From a biological perspective, humans are wired to achieve goals. Dana shared this as a reminder for people to take comfort in when their goals appear daunting or overwhelming.

Learning how to set goals that are attainable and manageable can be done using Dana’s smart cards model. If you would like to learn more about it, you can watch the webinar here.
