A Look Back at Republic of Work's 2024
As we wrap up another incredible year at Republic of Work, let’s take a moment to reflect on the amazing events, milestones, and memories we’ve shared in 2024. From new team members to unforgettable events, this year has been one for the books!
January
We kicked off the year with our Mocktail Mixer Night, welcoming both familiar faces and new members back after the Christmas break. It was a fantastic evening filled with laughter, great conversations, and delicious alcohol-free drinks – the perfect way to ease into the new year without any morning regrets.
February
February was packed with excitement, starting with the return of our 'Cork Meetup for Startups' event. Over 50 founders gathered to share their goals and dreams for 2024, creating a buzz of inspiration and collaboration. We also hosted a Valentine’s Day Charity Coffee Morning for the Irish Heart Foundation, raising over €400 thanks to our amazing members’ support! Special shoutout to our adorable mascot, Bess, who stole everyone’s hearts.
March
DeepTech Fest returned for its second edition in March, and it was bigger and better than ever! We welcomed incredible speakers from around the globe who shared their insights with a room full of deeptech enthusiasts. Already excited for 2025? Grab your tickets now!
April
April brought fresh energy as we welcomed Orla to the Republic of Work team. From day one, she’s been a powerhouse, seamlessly handling the buzz of our busy office. Orla, you’re a rockstar!
May
May was all about big events. Quintas Capital and The EIIS Innovation Fund hosted a live recording of the award-winning Entrepreneur Experiment podcast with Gary Fox in our Cork space, and the turnout was phenomenal. We also celebrated European Coworking Day with open days at both our Cork City and Clonmel locations, showcasing everything that makes coworking so special.
June
Summer arrived, and with it came our annual summer boat party! This year, we turned up the adrenaline with a high-speed cruise along Cork City’s beautiful waterways. There were plenty of laughs, pints, and unforgettable memories shared by all.
July
In July, Olympic fever swept through the office, bringing a fun and competitive spirit to our workdays. We also hosted a fabulous Pride Bingo + Beers night to celebrate Pride in Cork City. It was a colorful, joyous evening and a definite highlight of the year.
August
August was a month for planning and creativity. The Republic of Work team gathered for an offsite to brainstorm and strategize for the months ahead and into 2025. We also joined the NDRC crew for a two-day offsite in Dublin, gaining fresh insights and inspiration. To top it off, we kicked off our NDRC Pre-Accelerator Program, welcoming 23 incredible startups for a six-week journey of growth and innovation.
September
We reintroduced our popular Lunch and Learn series in September, led by our awesome program associate, Andy. The first session focused on marketing basics and was a big hit, especially for those just stepping into the world of marketing.
October
October was a month of milestones and spooky celebrations. We hosted the showcase for our NDRC Pre-Accelerator cohort, where startups pitched game-changing ideas ranging from AI sales solutions to dementia care tech and innovative travel platforms. And, of course, we couldn’t let October pass without our annual Halloween party – it was scarily good fun!
November
In November, we had the honor of hosting David Gillick for an inspiring talk on mental wellbeing, thanks to our friends at VHI. David’s candid sharing of his personal journey made the session truly impactful. We also launched The Startup Podcast, which has already received an amazing reception. Haven’t tuned in yet? December
And here we are, wrapping up the year with our annual members' Christmas party. It was an evening full of cheer, festive vibes, and great company – the perfect way to close out 2024.
Looking back, 2024 has been a whirlwind of growth, connection, and celebration. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2025. Thank you for being part of our journey, and here’s to another amazing year ahead!
