Our 2023 Year in Review - Part 1 | Republic of Work

As we approach the end of the year, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the past twelve months and all the amazing moments that made it special. In this blog post, we'll take a stroll down memory lane and revisit each month, celebrating all the wonderful things that happened along the way.

January

As we look back on the amazing journey of the past year, let's take a moment to celebrate a significant milestone. In January 2023, we proudly introduced a second coworking space in Clonmel, County Tipperary. This exciting event marked a new chapter in our commitment to providing entrepreneurs, freelancers, and innovators with an exceptional workspace that ignites inspiration and encourages collaboration. Our Clonmel location is steadily evolving into a vibrant hub for creativity, productivity, and meaningful connections. We sincerely appreciate the unwavering support from our members and partners, who have made this expansion possible.

February

In February 2023, we hosted a delightful Valentine’s Day coffee morning in support of the Irish Heart Foundation. It was a heartwarming event where our entire team and members came together to share a cup of warmth and compassion. The atmosphere was filled with love and laughter as we indulged in delectable treats provided by Roots Kitchen. It was a truly memorable day, uniting everyone in our community for a great cause. We also hosted our first Deeptech Roundtable in Cork. This gathering brought together a diverse group of passionate Deeptech enthusiasts from the local community. It was a fantastic opportunity for like-minded individuals to connect, exchange ideas, and foster collaborations within the growing Deeptech ecosystem in Cork

March

In March 2023, our coworking space was buzzing with activity. We kicked off the month by commemorating International Women's Day with a fabulous business breakfast, in collaboration with Sian Horn and The Club, a women's business network. We also showcased the incredible talent of Cohort 4 of our Teamwork Catalyst program during an inspiring Demo Day. These up-and-coming startups from Cork gave it their all, delivering the pitches of their lives. And then, we pushed boundaries with the inaugural DeeptechFest Ireland, an event that brought together the brightest minds in a day filled with stimulating discussions, groundbreaking presentations, and valuable networking opportunities with industry leaders.

April

In April, a SUPER cool thing happened - Ireland's very first e-sports academy chose our space at Republic of Work as their base. WYLDE, co-owned by none other than Usain Bolt himself, established their training grounds right here, preparing their team for the upcoming tournaments and events. We also welcomed a new team member, John Roche, who joined us as our enthusiastic program associate. He has been instrumental in managing all our internal programs and ensuring the success of our NDRC activities. One of our standout collaborations in April was an event with Stripe, where we delved into the topic of scaling during an economic slowdown. To make it even more special, we had the privilege of hearing insights from the ex-Irish Rugby star, Jamie Heaslip. Another event that captured the attention of many was our inspiring session with Trisha Lewis, famously known as Trishas Transformation. As a renowned motivational speaker and influential figure, she shared her incredible journey and the driving force that keeps her motivated.

May

In the month of May, we had the pleasure of hosting the highly anticipated First Fridays for Startups event in Cork. This incredible gathering brought together founders, entrepreneurs, and tech enthusiasts from all corners, both in person and virtually. Renowned companies such as WYLDE, Keelvar, SOSV, and Elkstone Capital were among the distinguished speakers, making this event truly special. Our member's night was an absolute treat for all the wine enthusiasts out there. We were privileged to have the delightful presence of Kate from Wines of the World, who conducted an exquisite wine-tasting session exclusively for our members. It was an evening filled with remarkable insights and a bunch of delectable wine choices that left everyone wanting more!

June

As we stepped into the month of June, with the return of summer vibes, our space became bustling with excitement as our 'Summer Sizzler' campaign took off like wildfire. We offered irresistible 2-for-1 day passes, and they were snatched up in no time. June proved to be a month dedicated to fitness, with some of our RoW team and members participating in the Grant Thornton 5k. Despite minimal practice, our team secured 3rd place overall. Additionally, we proudly joined forces with Obodo, an incredible gym located in Douglas, Cork. This meant our members had exclusive classes dedicated to improving their fitness. And to add the cherry on top, we organized an unforgettable Summer Party aboard a boat, cruising through the picturesque Cork Harbour. This event was an absolute hit, and our members still can't stop talking about it.

And that just about wraps up part one of our nostalgic blog post, providing a comprehensive review of the year 2023. But don't go anywhere just yet! Part two is just around the corner, where we will delve into the exciting highlights of the most recent 6 months. Stay tuned for more.
